To the editor,
We have recently read with great interest the article by Kai et al. entitled “Pregnancy managed by unfractionated heparin (UFH) after mechanical aortic valve replacement” [1]. The authors have reported the management of a pregnant patient with mechanical prosthetic valve in the aortic position. We congratulate the authors for achieving a successful outcome in such a high-risk patient for prosthetic valve thrombosis (PVT). However, we believe that the anticoagulation therapy proposed by the authors during pregnancy requires further discussion.
