Objective: This study was carried out to examine daily water consumption among vocational high school students. Methods: This study was conducted between May and July 2019 with the participation of 262 students training at a vocational high school of Hitit University. To collect the data a 32-item questionnaire including the socio-demographic characteristics, water consumption habits and some health behaviors was used. Data was evaluated via SPSS 21 program using percentage, average and chi-square test. In the analysis, p <0.05 value was considered statistically significant. Results: Of the study group 61.1% were between the 18-20 age group and 67.6% were women. While the proportion of those with a daily water consumption of eight glasses or more was 55% in the 18-20 age group, it was 65% for male students. Daily water consumption did not differ significantly in terms of students’ age groups and gender (respectively p= 0.272; p= 0.630). In the group, 54.4% stated that they slept less than eight hours a day and the ratio of students in this group with a daily water consumption of eight glasses and above was 61.7%. Daily water consumption did not differ significantly according to students’ daily sleep time (p=0.198). In the study, 53.1% stated that they never smoked / quit smoking, and the rate of those with sufficient daily water consumption was 63.3% and there was no significant difference between the groups (p= 0.069). The rate of those who stated that they met their daily liquid need from water was 54.2%, and in this group, the rate of those who had a daily water consumption of eight glasses and above was 73.3%. According to the sources of daily fluid needs, daily water consumption had shown a significant difference (p= 0.001). Daily water consumption did not differ significantly in terms of the frequency of fast food consumption (p= 0.089). Conclusion: Daily water consumption was low in vstudents. Sources of daily fluid intake was differ in terms of daily water consumption. Daily sources of fluid intake should be examined in young adults, strategies should be developed to encourage daily water intake, awareness training should be organized. © 2020, Turk Hijyen ve Deneysel Biyoloji Dergisi.
