Meslek Yüksekokullarındaki Mevcut Durum: Sorunlar ve Bazı Çözüm Önerileri

Abstract

Tarihsel süreci içerisinde değişik misyonlar yüklenmiş olan meslek yüksekokulları, günümüzde ticaret, sanayi ve hizmet sektörlerinin ihtiyaç duyduğu, alanlarında yeterli bilgi ve beceriye sahip ara elemanların yetiştirilmesi amacıyla kurulmuş mesleki ve teknik eğitim sisteminin en önemli bileşeni olan yükseköğretim kurumlarındandır. Meslek yüksekokullarında verilen eğitimin; ulusal ve uluslararası gereksinimler, gelişen teknoloji ve iş dünyasının ihtiyaçları doğrultusunda analiz edilip, gerekli düzenlemelerin yapılması, bu okul mezunlarının ilgili sektörlerde tercih edilen elemanlar olarak daha hızlı bir şekilde istihdam edilmelerini kolaylaştıracaktır. Türkiye’deki pek çok sanayici/ işadamı, ihtiyaç duydukları yeterli bilgi ve beceriye sahip nitelikli eleman temini konusunda ciddi sıkıntılar yaşadıklarını ifade etmektedir. Bu konuda çok önemli mesafeler kat edilmiş olmakla birlikte, hala yapılması gereken pek çok çalışma olduğu da bir gerçektir. Bu çalışmada, meslek yüksekokullarının mevcut durumu ve sahip olduğu temel sorunlar, Çorum ilinde yaklaşık 40 yıl önce kurulmuş olan ve Türkiye’de kurulan ilk meslek yüksekokulları arasında yer alan Hitit Üniversitesi Meslek Yüksekokulu’nda yaşanan tecrübeler ışığında ele alınmış, bazı çözüm önerileri verilmeye çalışılmıştır.

Vocational Schools which have undertaken various missions throughout history were established in order to train intermediate staffs with sufficient knowledge and skills in their fields, in accordance with the requirements of trade, industry and services sectors and they are the most important components of ‘vocational and technical education system’ today. Analyzing the education given in the vocational schools in accordance with the national and international requirements, developing technologies and the needs of business world and making the necessary arrangements in line with these will contribute to the employability and preferability of graduates of these schools in an efficient way. Many industrialists/businessmen in our country stated that they experienced serious problems in the supply of qualified staff with sufficient knowledge and skills needed in sectors. Although much progress has been achieved in this subject, it is a fact that there are still a lot of work to be done. In this study, current situation and main troubles in vocational schools are discussed in the light of the experiences gained at Hitit University Vocational School which was established about 40 years ago in Çorum and which is one of the first high schools in Turkey and some solutions are suggested in accordance with the problems mentioned.
